Rich and healthy reefs are in abundance around Panagsama, teaming with plant and animal life. Offering great diving in conditions suitable for all levels of experience and comfort. The dive sites are just minutes away by boat or only a walk of the beach.

Entrance:
A short walk or snorkel across the 50 to 70 meter wide reef.
Conditions:
Usually a light current. From 5 meters a gentle slope to 25 metres.
Then a drop – off to 40 metres

The house reef is easily reached, and with varying shallow ledges, makes it the ideal place for beginners and snorkelers. The reef was damaged badly in the 1982 typhoon that took the sandy beach away, though there are pristine patches of coral and one of these is in front of Quo Vadis Beach Resort. The house reef ”Pool” , where training takes place, is home to sand eels, the perfect audience with their ringed eyes and black lips.There are many other permanent residents, a group of bat fish swimming in formation is a frequent sight. Many of the less common creatures have also been sighted by reliable sources. For the more experienced diver ”Narc Rock” offers exciting dives and rich varieties of marine life.

Pescador Island is a small uninhabited island set in the Tanon Strait. The whole island above and below water is riddled with caverns and caves providing homes and cover for a wide variety of creatures. Spear fishing and all other illegal fishing methods are prohibited, so the inhabitants below and above water have some peace. The shelf, surrounding the island, 5 to 20 meters wide, can be seen from a boat and on calm days the scene is tantalising. The wall going down to 50 meters, is filled with spectacular crevasses, over hangs and caves. Large soft and hard corals, surrounded by reef dwellers attract an incredible variety of marine life.
Quite simply it is a paradise for divers. Many species of hard coral have been described. Reef hunters patrol the reef, ranging in size, in the depths sharks are frequently encountered. Hammer heads visit for the first months of the year. Other species make their home there and on night dives you encounter them sleeping amongst the corals.
The largest cave is ”The Cathedral”. This is a breathtaking dive during the day or at night. There is a buttress at the top of the cave creating the impression of a church spire. It has been known for the adventurous amongst us to get married!!!

A strong wind can make the boat ride wobbly. Depending on tides, there is often an exciting current. Free descent down a rope to 25 metres.

Sunken island is as its name suggests, a sunken island set in the middle of the Tanon Straight. The summit, at 25 meters, is reached through free water down a line. It provides a home and a hunting ground for a plethora of marine life. Shoals of mackerel and tuna hang around in the blue. Turtles appear on occasions, but there is always a frog fish or two sitting around on a coral. Remarkably large lionfish glide along the path ways in the coral adding an Elizabethan touch to the scene with their extravagant fins.
It is a dive for experienced divers only. Due to the tides, the current is often strong.

This reef is between the Quo Vadis House Reef and Tongo Point. This dive site is good for snorkelers and beginners and also the more experienced ones can get a good dive here. Small crevasses and overhangs are home to a large variety of reef fishes and invertebrates. Turtles are seen frequently here. A good place for a second shallow dive.

The reef shelf is only 2 meters deep and is excellent for snorkelers. The wall is filled with crevasses and caves which provide a place for juvenile sweetlips, batfish and anglefish. A torch reveals a wonderful collection of small and large creatures. Octopuses with their seemingly intelligent eyes, cleaners shrimps and moray eels can be seen busy in their underwater city. Turtles pay visits to feed on the shells and other tasty morsels. Squids often feed in the late afternoon and grey and white tip sharks pop in for a snack. It is a good place for a drift dive as there is something interesting at every level.

Large soft and hard corals with table corals capping the reef. A wide variety of shells and crustaceans. Large leather jacket trigger fish are often encountered.

Usually calm with a gentle current. A sandy slope to 20 meters then a drop of to 40 meters.

White Beach is famous for its large hard and soft corals which provide homes for the most varied collection of fish in the area. In the sandy areas sand eels, flounders and flat heads are a common sight. Red toothed trigger fish and damsel fish have, in this area received food from divers. This is not a good practice and we discourage people.

A slope with nice corals from 3 to 20+ meters, than a small plateau with an airplane wreck. It was placed here for the purpose of creating an artificial reef. Napoleons can be seen here and from the nearby sanctuary large groupers, turtles and sand eels pass by. Of course there are many different species of small reef fishes and invertebrates here too.
